Dwight Batch
President
2011-2012
Welcome to the Rotary Club of Burnet website.
Our club was chartered in 1970 and continues, after over 40 years, to be very active in serving our local community.
Our membership is comprised of business professionals and community leaders who strive to exemplify the Rotary motto of "Service Above Self" in their daily lives.
We are an active group engaged in many local, as well as international, projects that offer our members opportunities to reach out to those who are in need.
Our service to the local community consists of awards to non-profits who help to provide hundreds of pounds of food and personal supplies for the needy, help for at-risk children and programs that help children learn a new skill. We organize hands on projects that have cleaned buildings and parks. We also contribute to a wonderful scholarship program for our graduating seniors going on to higher education via the Hill Country Community Foundation.
We have many youth programs, such as "Germy Wormy" a program to help prevent spreading germs for local elementary age school students. We also have leadership and mentoring programs for our high school students and opportunities for youth exchange programs all over the world.
Internationally, we have brought much needed medical services around the world as well as projects that bring clean water to undeveloped areas in other countries. We are actively involved in Polio Plus, a worldwide project to eradicate polio. The Bill Gates Foundation is supporting our efforts with hundreds of millions of dollars in matching grant funds to make sure polio is no longer a threat anywhere in the world.
We also have a strong fellowship component amongst our members. We enjoy working, playing and laughing together and forming new friendships that will last forever. The self satisfaction one can achieve when presented with the opportunities Rotary can offer is endless. Many of our members have found richer and more meaningful lives through membership in our club.
The Rotary Club of Burnet meets every Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. at the S.H. Reed/Hill Country Community Foundation Building located at 402 East Jackson Street in Burnet, Texas.
I invite you to visit us and share in the mission of Rotary.
